Certificate in IT Support [NZQA Level 5]


Course goals and objectives.

  • Qualified system builder
  • Qualified operating system installation/support specialist.
  • Qualified network support technician.
  • Have gained a genuine insight into the IT industry (DNS)


The course comprises of a total of eight papers which make up the certificate:

  • Unit Standard 18752
  • Unit Standard 6869
  • Unit Standard 6870
  • Unit Standard 6871

The above standards cover the 'hardware/system builder' component of the course, with a mixture of written and practical assessments.

  • Unit Standard 6872
  • Unit Standard 6836

The above standards cover the 'operating system installation/support' component, with a mixture of written and practical assessments.

  • Unit Standard 6854
  • Unit Standard 6865

The above standards cover the 'qualified network support technician' component with a mixture of written and practical assessments.

Students who achieve these standards will be eligible to take the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network + international exams.

Course Length
Component 1: Computer Hardware 5 weeks
Component 2:  Computer OS 4 weeks
Component 3:  Computer Networks 6 weeks
Total course length: 15 weeks, 5 days a week, 4 hours of instructor led training per day
